In Ferguson, Missouri, protests and riots begin after the fatal police shooting of Black teenager Michael Brown. This period of unrest, known as the “Ferguson Uprising,” attracts national attention. At the School of Medicine, it spurs formation of the Senior Leadership Committee on Diversity and Inclusion.
